Glenn: Be Positive

Glenn Roeder says that the way ahead is to be positive about the upcoming campaign - and not dwell on the disappointment of relegation.

"At some stage you have to stop looking backwards because if you are to go forwards you have to look in that direction."

Glenn says the atmosphere is good amongst the players and adds:

"The main group of the players have been back on the first of July and the international group came back a week later.

"Every player, since he has come back, has trained extremely well and the training has been very hard.

"We have been quite severe with the training even with the fact that we can't afford to pick up injuries because we are operating with a smaller squad.

"We lost 10 at the end of the season and five were senior first team players; the squad is the tiniest it has ever been.

"We know the importance of being fit for the first day of the season so a certain amount of hard work has been necessary to put the tone back into the legs and to get the lungs in the right shape.

"The players have been working very hard and have enjoyed the extra work, morning and afternoon, and are looking forward to the second preseason game.

"I have to say the mood around the training ground when you consider all the circumstances from last year has been extremely positive and the way you would want it to be."
