Acquisitions A Priority

Glenn Roeder says there will be acquisitions ahead of the new campaign - and says he will be making judicious use of the loan system as well.

Although he is taking 21 players to Bournemouth, six of them are youngsters with no first team experience whatsoever, and one - Rob Lee - is effectively a trialist.

Just 11 of the travelling party have made a double figure number of appearances and Glenn is acutely aware that simply relying on good luck with injuries is hardly a viable option in the coming campaign.

"We have to look at a varying number of positions and the major problem for me is we are not sure which problem becomes a priority because we lose a player," he says.

"I have certain targets and as soon as we are in a position to move I will move for them.

"It is very important that I make use of the loan system and I am sure there are excellent loans to be had.

"As and when we feel we need to bring one in to help us we will do.

"The scouting department has got its house in order as far as that is concerned and we are ready to move once we get the green light."
