Youssef Patient

Youssef Sofiane says that he is content to carry on waiting for his first team chance.

The young striker, who came from France in the summer, has yet to figure in the first team - though he was on the bench for the cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

Of his progress at Upton Park, he says:

"I am happy with the way things are going and just waiting to be launched into it, as it were.

"I am young so there is no hurry and I am not impatient, but I do want to play.

"I was on the bench for Nottingham Forest so I hope to get there again and then become part of the team.

"It might be a case of seeing if the team can get up the table before I get a chance but I get on well with Glenn so I'll just wait and be ready when called upon.

"I had a little problem adapting at first, but I think that is natural given that I am a young player joining a group of professionals.

"But that is done now, and the people here are open and easy to get on with; there are no jealousies, and it is perfect."

The recent departure of Titi Camara on loan has not really affected his place in the 'pecking order' of strikers since Les Ferdinand has come to the club, and in any case, he insists:

"I am not a rival of Titi, these are just decisions the coach makes."

But with Fredi Kanoute facing a three match ban, if anything happens to any of the other strikers as well, Youssef could inch nearer the spotlight.
