Signed Shirt Auction
supporting Macmillan Nurses

Hammers fans are being given the opportunity to help a fantastic cause, by bidding for a West Ham shirt signed personally by the entire first team squad in a unique auction set up to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

The shirt has been kindly donated by Carol Charles, wife of former Hammers favourite John Charles, who sadly died recently after a long and brave battle against cancer.

John's final months and weeks were made as comfortable as they could have possibly been by the wonderful work of the Macmillan nurses as the St Francis Hospice in Havering-Atte-Bower, while the support they offered Carol was unwavering during such a difficult time.

For that reason, Carol has donated the shirt in the hope of giving something back to this fantastic charity that is funded entirely by donations from the general public.

If you would like to make a bid for the shirt, which is personally signed by Glenn Roeder and all the first team players at Upton Park, then simply click on the link below to send your bid by email.

The reserve price is set at £100.00 and the highest bid will be updated regularly throughout the day on whufc.com

Bidding closes at 3pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2002, when the winning bidder will be informed. A cheque for the entire amount of the winning bid will be presented to Carol Charles and the Macmillan nurses.

AUCTION NOW CLOSED

Macmillan Cancer Relief is a UK charity supporting people with cancer and their families with specialist information, treatment and care. That support is available from the moment that cancer is diagnosed.

At the heart of the charity's work are over 2,000 Macmillan nurses working in posts in almost every local health authority in the UK, based in hospitals and the community. All Macmillan nurses are Registered Nurses with a minimum of 5 years' experience, including at least two in cancer or palliative care.

They work closely with the NHS and others to develop and pioneer a network of services for people with cancer, working together so that standards of treatment and care can be improved for everyone.

Macmillan's aim is to ensure that everyone has access to the best information, treatment and care, which will make people's lives easier and reduce unnecessary levels of fear.
