Kes Goes West

Youngster Kes Metitiri has joined Bristol City - while several other players from the academy are looking for new clubs.

"They have taken the third year of his scholarship," says Tony Carr, "while we obviously hope the others get fixed up with clubs in the summer."

Dean Smith, one of the youngsters released, is going to study at Loughborough University, while Dean Cleaver, Billy McMahon, Anthony Dean, Niall Ritchie, and Ross Tobolewski are all seeking alternative employment.

Joe Sealey retired injured earlier in the season, Emmanuel Cascione was allowed to go back to Italy because of a family problem some months ago, and Craig Saunders from the under-17s left by mutual consent recently.

Australian Steve Laurie, who had had injury problems, went to Peterborough on a free transfer in the winter. Of the other under 19s, Glen Johnson has gone on to get a place recently in the first team squad, while several others have broken through into the reserves.

James Allen, Glenn Jackson, Billy Mehmet, Elliott Ward, Daryll McMahon, Freddy Eastwood, and Terry Khan have all been retained, as have the under-17s Ronnie Fletcher, Phil Lumsden, Danny Morris, Graeme Carrick, George Sealey, Greg Pearson, Anton Ferdinand, Ayo Akinsete, Brent Tatum, and Trent McClenahan.
