Tony Gale believes that Trevor Sinclair has made the position on the left of England's midfield his own.

Trevor, who played the full 90 minutes against Nigeria on Thursday in England's 0-0 draw, was, according to Tony, England's most effective creator against the Africans.

"He was our best attacking option," he says, "and linked well, especially with Ashley Cole.

"He was very, very good again, and has definitely displaced Kieron Dyer on the left - he has made the position his own.

"Trevor has not let anyone down at all, and I am delighted for him."

Tony says that it is understandable that Joe Cole did not come on despite England struggling to break the deadlock, and adds: "I didn't expect him to come on because we had to keep it tight, and it would have been unfair on him as he would have got the blame if anything had gone wrong.

"But Joe, and others who have not been involved yet, can take heart from Trevor coming onto the scene and making a name for himself."

Of the match overall, he says: "It was a poor game but we did what we had to - and now we can take the bull by the horns."

Tony is delighted that Argentina, by virtue of their 1-1 draw with Sweden, are out of the World Cup, and says: "It is brilliant, because I hate them and I always have. They are cheats and they know they are.

"I don't like the way they take defeat, and I am pleased they have gone out.

"It is no good sitting on the fence - the fact that one of the better sides has gone out can only help England."
