Glenn Roeder has denied reports that he has made a bid for
Fiorentina striker Nuno Gomes.
He says of the Portugese international: "He is just one of those players we have been linked with. All I would say is that two years ago when I saw a lot of him in the European Championships in Holland and Belgium he looked like an outstanding goalscorer.
"That is why Fiorentina paid so much money for him, and obviously they have had their problems in the last couple of years which hasn't helped Nuno's cause.
"Two years ago he looked a hell of a goalscorer.
"But, again, it is just one of those players that has been linked with us before we have even thought about making a move."
