'don't Be Negative'

Glenn Roeder says he is not interested in negative thinking as the Hammers head for the all-important Christmas programme.

A London newspaper this week set out the statistics of teams who are bottom on Christmas day always being relegated since the inception of the Premiership, but Glenn is not interested in such portents of doom.

"Of course I am aware of it - but it is not Christmas yet, is it?

"There are games before Christmas and there are points to be won.

"Too many people in life live their life through the negative view. We live in a world where people find it easier, more comfortable, to live in a negative rather than be positive and optimistic.

"But I am certainly one of those that is very optimistic, very positive - and I always will be."

Edouard Cisse returns after suspension for the trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday - and Glenn is hoping bans do not become a headache this season.

"It is good news that Cisse is back after a one match suspension, and we couldn't expect John Moncur to start a game yet. He will need a few weeks to get up to a level of fitness where we can get him playing for a longer period than we did on Monday night.

"With Paolo now injured it was absolutely vital that Cisse has served his one match ban and he can play on Saturday.

"Tomas has served a game, Edouard has served a game, and we do have too many on three bookings or in one case four."

Squad: James, Van der Gouw, Forde, Repka, Dailly, Winterburn, Breen, Cole, Sinclair, Schemmel, Cisse, Carrick, Minto, Moncur, Sofiane, Ferdinand, Defoe, Pearce, Camara, Byrne.
