Lomy On His Way

Glenn Roeder is delighted that Steve Lomas has stepped up his training - but has warned against expecting David James back too soon.
Steve played in a training game at Chadwell Heath in the week, and Glenn says:
"He took a giant stride forward playing in a practice game for 60 minutes against Leyton Orient; I'd have been happy for him just to have been out there, but he made a good contribution.
"He will probably play in the reserves against Tottenham next week along with Joe Cole.
"It was good news, and it was quite a competitive game and no one held back, but we don't want to prejudge it.
"It will take more games for his confidence to grow, which it will."
Reports suggesting David James could be back in a fortnight are premature, however, and Glenn insists:
"I'm leaving all the time scales to John Green and the team, but he is reaching every target ahead of time.
"He seems to have an insatiable appetite for work but we have to be careful that when we need to put the reins on him we do.
"It is so gratifying to work with someone so motivated whose tempo and desire in training is so good.
"He is doing handling work already while being careful, and he is getting those gloves on every day.
"But until we see David back playing again we have to be patient."
Titi Camara is still a way away from fitness, and Glenn adds:
"Camara played 45 minutes but he is still not near the sort of fitness you want him to have - but at least we got him in a match
"Since he has been here he hasn't really been able to figure too much in first team action which is a disappointment."
