Don Returns

One Hammers star definitely looking forward to Saturday's Premiership clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light is midfielder Don Hutchison.

The 30-year-old Geordie joined us from the Black Cats in August for a club record £5million after spending one season on Wearside and admits he can't wait to get stuck in against his former team-mates.

"I'm looking forward to the game, it should be good going back to the club and seeing some old friends," says Don.

"I still keep in touch with all the boys up there, they are good lads and I've got a lot of respect for the manager Peter Reid.

"I really enjoyed my time there and it will be great to play again at the Stadium of Light in front of the Sunderland fans - although I'm not sure what kind of a reception I'll get!

"I imagine my family will all be there, my mum and dad will probably travel from Gateshead, and I've got a lot of friends up there who will be excited about the game."

Hammers fans will be hoping for a repeat of our last visit to the Stadium of Light, when Fredi Kanoute's 78th minute goal secured victory in the FA Cup fifth round last season and, although the Frenchman will be missing through injury this time around, Hutch is confident that we can secure the three points that will allow us to leapfrog above Sunderland in the table.

"Hopefully, we can go up there, play well and get the three points we need. It will be a tough game but we are all confident about getting a result.

"The manager might ask me one or two things but he's not daft, he knows his stuff and he will have done his homework on Sunderland.

"There main strengths are well known, with Niall Quinn the aerial target and, to be honest, it's not often he gets beaten in the air, so the important thing is that we are alert to the second ball and ensure that Kevin Phillips doesn't get too much space."

The recently-recalled England striker will undoubtedly be Sunderland's biggest threat in front of goal tomorrow but Don himself is hopeful of grabbing the glory by adding to his solitary strike, against Newscastle, since rejoining the Hammers

"Yeah, I'm due a goal after not scoring since September, so it would be nice to get one against my old team.

"We've scored seven goals in the last two away games, so there is no reason why we can't be confident about getting a good result on Saturday."
