Kids Grab Wins

West Ham United's youth teams both gained creditable victories at the weekend against Watford.

The under-19s won 3-1 with a James Allen hat trick and boss Tony Carr said: "We played very well but missed lots of chances in the second half, when we could have gone four or five up, but they pulled one back.

"Then it was all hands to the pump in the last 15 minutes before James grabbed a late goal - and got a whack on the ankle for his troubles."

Peter Brabrook said of his younger side's 2-0 win: "We made hard work of it when we could have sewn it up by half time but defensively we were very good and we did have a lot of schoolboys in the team."

The under-17 scorers were Pearson from the penalty spot and Collington with a 25-yard shot.
