Injury Latest

New assistant physio Simon Webster says he is enjoying every minute of his new job - and reveals that the injury list is mercifully short ahead of the first pre-season fixtures of the campaign.

The former Hammers centre half, whose own career was ended by injury while at Upton Park, says: "I'm enjoying it immensely; it is nice to be back in there even though it is in a different role.

"It's good to be part of an environment you are used to with people striving to get fit.

"The biggest thing is trying to hold people back sometimes; I know what I was like.

"Everyone is positive and seems in very good spirits and we just want to get people through this first game without problems."

Running through the injuries, he reveals: "Steve Lomas is doing very well and has done a little bit more this week but hasn't got out onto the field yet.

"Ian Pearce is on active rest at the hydropool in Manchester, and we hope he won't need an operation.

"Titi Camara is doing very well and has stepped up over the last couple of weeks.

"He is getting fitter heart and lungs wise, starting to do a little more functional work.

"Richard Garcia has completed all of the pre-season so far and is due to play in one of the games tonight.

"Izzy Iriekpen has had a bit of a set back and is having a series of injections because he has more swelling on his knee, while Steve Laurie has had a bit of Achilles tendonitis and we are just being cautious with him because it is pre-season.

"We are doing very well, and the injuries are mainly long-termers, apart from Pearcey with his knee and the tendonitis that has come on since he started back.

"But hopefully we can ease him back into training soon."
