Wolves Hungry For Bywater

Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater has joined first division Wolverhampton Wanderers for an initial three-month loan period.

With new signing David James taking over the No.1 jersey, manager Glenn Roeder was keen for England Under-21 international Bywater to gain regular first team experience elsewhere this season.

'It will do him the world of good and he couldn't be at a better first division club than Wolves.

'Wolves manager, David Jones, and Stephen's agent, Jonathon Barnett, are also keen for him to be there and it will hopefully work out well for all concerned.

'Stephen needs regular first team experience next season but, if we suddenly hit problems with injuries to our keepers, we have the right to recall him at 28 days' notice in an emergency.

'He has joined Wolves initially for three months and we'll have to look at his situation again at that time. He may stay at Molineux for the rest of the season.'But if, for any reason, things don't work out as well as we all hope for him at Wolves, we would certainly have no difficulty placing him elsewhere. I've had enquiries from half a dozen clubs who were keen to take him on loan.'
