Hutch's Warning

Don Hutchison insists that the Hammers face an even more stringent examination of their abilities at Upton Park this weekend.

Rather than going overboard following the win at Manchester United - Glenn Roeder's fifth win in his 17 league games as compared with three wins in the first 17 games of this calendar year - he warns:

"I think it will be harder; Arsenal like to play away from home and we have to make sure we get the fans on our side, because in the Villa game we conceded a goal after 30 seconds and they turned on the players.

"It wasn't easy to play in that game, though we did well in the second half.

"We are set up nicely for the weekend; who would have thought, touch wood, that we would lose at Blackburn and Everton, and beat Manchester United and Arsenal - but hopefully that will be the case."

Whether Don will revert to a central midfield role remains to be seen, following the successful ploy of switching him to the right, putting Trevor Sinclair in midfield, and Joe Cole in the middle at Old Trafford.

Don played mostly on the right for Sunderland last season, and he says:

"I didn't mind; I will play wherever the gaffer asks me to play though I prefer it in the middle.

"You have to be versatile these days and Glenn knows I will give 100% wherever I play."

The key to the victory, says Don, was self belief, and he says:

"We watched videos on Manchester United and we went into the game really positively because we are a confident bunch.

"Sometimes teams go up there and play one up front but we decided to go 4-4-2, play the same system as them, and it worked.

"I enjoyed it; it was brilliant coming away with a win from Old Trafford and not many players can say they have done that in their career."
