The squad numbers have been announced for the new season - and
David James will wear the number one jersey when he returns.
Fellow goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, last season's number one, will wear 17 at Anfield, recalled keeper Steve Bywater keeps the number 32 shirt and fellow custodian Craig Forrest retains the number 22.
As yet, there are no occupants for the number two, four, five, and nine shirts, while Michael Carrick [21] and Joe Cole [26] have elected to stay with last season's numbers.
Youngsters Richard Garcia, Michael Ferrante, Steve Clark, Anwar uddin, and Steve Laurie all acquire squad numbers, while new signing Laurent Courtois will wear number 28.
All in all, 34 players receive a squad number, with eight players with numbers last year - Stuart Pearce, Igor Stimac, Davor Suker, Frank Lampard, Christian Bassila, Kaba Diawara, Terrell Forbes, and Stevland Angus - all having departed.
