West Ham United goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has been included in France’s 23-man squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes against Israel and Belgium.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a strong 2024/25 campaign for the Hammers so far, starting each of the Club’s six Premier League outings and shaking off a knock that forced him off against Manchester City at the end of August.
A regular pick for national team boss Didier Deschamps, Areola has five senior caps to his name, having made his debut in the Nations League against Germany little over six years ago.
In this season’s competition, Les Bleus currently sit second in Group A2, following defeat to Italy and victory over Belgium in their opening two matches at home last month, with Areola an unused substitute on both occasions.
The two-time world champions will hope to strengthen their claims for a quarter-final spot when they return to action first against Israel in Budapest, Hungary, at 7.45pm BST on Thursday 10 October.
They will then look to complete the double over Belgium four days later, on Monday 14 October, with that fixture also set to kick off at 7.45pm BST in Leuven.
