Areola and Ings make young Hammers’ Christmas wishes come true

Young fans Charlie and Tommy saw their West Ham United Christmas wishes come true after receiving hand-delivered gifts from Alphonse Areola and Danny Ings.

Both Charlie and Tommy posted their West Ham Christmas wishes into the post box at the Stadium Store and each were welcomed to London Stadium to receive their presents, courtesy of the Hammers.

What neither knew, though, was that their present would be given to them by their respective favourite players.

Eight-year-old Charlie had wished for a brand new goalkeeper kit, complete with the printing of his favourite Hammer – Areola – on the back of shirt.

Charlie dreams of being a goalkeeper for West Ham in the future, working day and night on his technique, and was surprised to meet Areola following West Ham’s 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Frenchman gifted Charlie a brand-new goalkeeper kit and imparted words of advice onto the budding shot-stopper, before posting for photos and signing autographs.

Tommy, meanwhile, wished for a West Ham United Lego set. His favourite player is Danny Ings and was left speechless when the Irons attacker delivered his present personally.

“Some things are much bigger than football and this is one of them,” Ings said. “We want to help people in any way we can.”
