Apply to join the West Ham United women’s team Supporters’ Board!

There is still time to apply to join the West Ham United women’s team Supporters’ Board (WSB)!

Chaired by supporters Jo Bailey and Peter Tyler, the WSB features Hammers fans from a wide range of demographics who liaise regularly with senior management staff at West Ham United as well as meeting with representatives from the women’s team Board of Directors each season to discuss key matters of interest to the Club and our supporters.

The 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season got underway this month, with the game at Brighton & Hove Albion giving the Irons their first win of the new campaign, as goals from Kirsty Smith and Riko Ueki secured victory.

The Hammers are at the start of a new and exciting era for the team, under the guidance of Rehanne Skinner, who became the Club's first female manager when she took over in July.

With a number of new recruits, the women’s team are hoping to better last season’s eighth place finish in the WSL. Exciting young players Jessie Stapleton and Emma Harries were the first players through the door during the summer window, before Republic of Ireland international Megan Walsh signed on the dotted line.

The window was rounded off by the arrival of Japan’s No9, Ueki – who notched two goals at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, including one against eventual winners Spain. The forward has eleven goals for her country since making her first appearance in 2019. Ueki was one of eight Hammers who featured in the global showcase Down Under, another positive sign for the team, ahead of what promises to be an action-packed season in the top tier of women’s football in this country.

The aim of the WSB is to work together with the Club to provide the best experience for supporters across all areas of the women’s game, in addition to sharing feedback on Club processes and services, matchdays, supporter communications and content, and fan-focused initiatives. The WSB are directly contactable, providing fans with an opportunity to engage with fellow supporters and offering a point of contact to raise questions, discussion topics and feedback to senior staff at West Ham United.

Once all of the fan representative positions are filled, the WSB will meet with each other first, before holding an inaugural meeting with the women’s team Board of Directors and senior management, where we will formalise the new relationship together, including via a new official Terms of Reference. The WSB will also have a position on the West Ham United Fan Advisory Board.

The WSB are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and a diverse range of supporters with a keen interest in West Ham United and the supporter experience. For full information, read the WSB Supporter Representative Guide. Supporters can apply to join the WSB by completing the application form, submitting a maximum of 200 words explaining why you feel you should be chosen to represent your fellow Hammers. Applications close on Monday 23 October 2023 at 5pm.
