Nayef Aguerd has been named in Morocco’s 27-man squad for the 2023 CAF Cup of Nations tournament.
The West Ham United centre-back, who has made 21 appearances in all competitions this campaign, has been selected in Walid Regragui’s squad for the finals, which will begin for The Atlas Lions against Tanzania in Group F on Wednesday 17 January.
Aguerd and his international colleagues will face Tanzania at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San-Pédro.
A second matchday put Morocco against DR Congo on Sunday 21 January, again at the Laurent Pokou Stadium, before a final Group F clash against Zambia on Wednesday 24 January 2024.
The final will take place at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé on Sunday 11 February at 8pm GMT.
Aguerd has made 34 appearances for his national side since his debut in August 2016 and has previously helped Morocco to win their first African Nations Championship, won in their home nation with a 4-0 win over Nigeria.
The 27-year-old also played a pivotal role in Morocco reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
