Nayef Aguerd featured for 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Morocco secured a draw in an international friendly against Cape Verde on Monday evening.
Just five days after playing his part in a memorable UEFA Europa Conference League triumph on Wednesday 7 June, the Moroccan centre-back was back involved on international duty at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists battled through a tense 90 minutes but were unable to find a way past a resolute Cape Verde side – and stretched an unbeaten head-to-head run to three matches with a goalless draw.
Aguerd and company will next play a CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday 17 June at 4PM BST.
Elsewhere, Thilo Kehrer was an unused substitute as Germany came from behind to draw 3-3 in an international friendly with Ukraine.
The UEFA Euro 2024 hosts took the lead through Niclas Füllkrug inside six minutes but trailed 2-1 at the break after an equaliser from Viktor Tsyhankov and an own-goal from Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger.
Despite Germany having 70 per cent of the ball on the night, the visitors to Weserstadion stretched their lead when Tsyhankov added his second of the night just short of the hour, although two late goals from Kai Havertz and Joshua Kimmich secured a point.
Germany will next face Poland on Friday 16 June in a friendly at National Stadium Warsaw at 7.45pm BST, before Kehrer completes his international window, with the final of three friendlies taking place at Veltins-Arena, as his country host Colombia at 7.45pm BST.
