Gabriel Caliste became West Ham United's first full Mauritius international when he made his senior debut in an Intercontinental Cup tie with India in September 2024, three years after joining the Academy of Football in 2021.

A versatile, athletic, technically-gifted player who can operate in defence or midfield, Caliste marked his U18s debut with an assist in a 3-1 U18 Premier League South win at Leicester City in April 2023, aged 16.

The following season, 2023/24, saw Caliste make 19 U18 Premier League South appearances as the young Hammers finished second in the table. He also made his FA Youth Cup debut as a substitute in the third-round win over Southampton in December 2023.
