West Ham United are delighted to announce Maurice Birnbaum as the Away Scheme Member representative for the Fan Advisory Board.
Maurice is a regular attender of West Ham matches since 1971, a home Season Ticket Holder since 1988, mainly on the Chicken Run, and an Away Scheme member since 2016. He was elected following a fan vote of Away Season Scheme members.
As part of his election statement, Maurice shared, “I have travelled to most of West Ham’s away matches since 1978, including cold evenings up north with return journeys through the night then straight off to work. I went to all the away matches in Europe over the last three seasons and have seen West Ham play in 30 countries on four continents including the USA, China, New Zealand and Australia.
"I know what it takes to organise and make time to do this and the challenges faced by supporters attending away matches. I have substantial experience of representing individuals and groups in my work roles in the NHS.”
He added upon accepting the position: “I am looking forward to contributing to the Fan Advisory Board and will use my experience, and supporter engagement, to be a balanced and effective representative for Away Scheme members and the wider fanbase.”
The Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is West Ham United’s primary mechanism for formal consultation and engagement, with representatives sharing their views on issues which impact the Club’s fan base, including the Club strategic vision and objectives, London Stadium plans, operational matchday processes and any proposals relating to Club heritage items.
The FAB is also consulted on the Club’s short, medium and long-term strategy, equality, diversity and inclusion commitments, the communities’ strategy and West Ham United’s plans for broader supporter engagement. Please see here for more information.
