Herrick keeps clean sheet as England U19s defeat Lithuania

West Ham United Academy goalkeeper Fin Herrick kept his first clean sheet for England U19s this afternoon as the Young Lions defeated Lithuania 1-0 in their first U19 UEFA European Championship qualifier in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

England took the lead early on courtesy of Arsenal striker and captain Ethan Nwaneri, who headed home from close range from a Tyrique George cross. Will Antwi’s Young Lions played out the rest of the game untroubled to secure all three points, which sees them move to the top of Group 3 pending the result between Bulgaria and Belgium.

Herrick’s latest clean sheet, in his third appearance for the U19s, means he currently boasts the best goals conceded per game ratio of the England goalkeepers in his age group. West Ham teammate Lewis Orford watched on from the bench and will be looking to feature in their upcoming qualifier against hosts Bulgaria on Saturday.
