Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham United women’s team
Barclays Women’s Super League, American Express Stadium, Saturday 16 November 2024, 12.30pm GMT
Fresh from their first victory of the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign, West Ham United women’s team will look to carry the momentum from the weekend into their trip to the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Rehanne Skinner’s ninth-placed Hammers picked up a 1-0 success against Leicester City at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday, courtesy of Viviane Asseyi’s strike in first-half stoppage time, but go in search of the first win on their travels at a Seagulls side who sit third in the WSL standings.
The Irons are hoping to build on a number of resilient displays on the road so far, against Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, which have yielded one point, coming via a 1-1 draw at the Toffees last month.
Meanwhile, despite their bright start to the campaign, Brighton are aiming to shake off a 5-0 hammering at Arsenal on Friday 8 November - their second defeat of the season.
Both teams will be gunning for a victory in Saturday’s early kick-off - here’s everything you need to know about the clash on the south coast…

Opposition...
Brighton have made a promising start to the 2024/25 WSL campaign, registering four wins and a draw from their first seven matches, with defeats coming against Manchester City and Arsenal. The Seagulls have scored three or more goals on three occasions in all competitions this term, including a 4-0 dispatching of visiting Everton on the opening day of the season.
Dario Vidošić, who was appointed Brighton manager in the summer, has certainly got his side singing from the same hymn sheet. The 37-year-old spent two seasons at Melbourne City Women in Australia's A-League in his first managerial role before moving to the Amex, where he replaced interim boss Mikey Harris, who finished ninth with the Seagulls last term after the sacking of Melissa Phillips in February.
In his first transfer window at the club, Vidošić brought in ten new faces, including two England internationals: midfielder Frank Kirby and striker Nikita Parris. The former Chelsea and Manchester United players boast more than 140 caps between them and were part of the history-making side that lifted the 2022 UEFA Women's Euros.
Alongside Kirby, midfielder Jelena Čanković also arrived from the Stamford Bridge club in the summer, while Scotland international Rachel McLauchlan and the Netherlands’ Marisa Olislagers also joined Vidošić’s new-look side.
In one of seven summer departures from the Amex, Katie Robinson, who has made five senior appearances for England and was the Seagulls’ second-top scorer in all competitions last term, joined WSL rivals Aston Villa on a free transfer.
Previous Meetings…
The Hammers and the Seagulls have faced each other 15 times in all competitions, with the latter edging the head-to-head record with eight victories to West Ham’s five.
The two sides met three times last term, as the Irons tallied four points from the two league meetings, courtesy of a 2-0 win away from home and a goalless draw at Chigwell Construction Stadium, but Brighton clinched a 3-1 victory in the Women’s League Cup meeting in November.
Goals in either half from Kirsty Smith and Riko Ueki handed Skinner’s side a win at Broadfield Stadium last season, and the Hammers will hope to replicate the result on Saturday.
