Head Coach Graham Potter is hoping to welcome Aaron Wan-Bissaka back into his West Ham United squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The right-back is expected to return to availability after recovering from a toe injury that saw him miss the Hammers’ 1-1 home draw with Southampton last weekend.
Wan-Bissaka has missed just two of 33 possible Premier League matches since joining from Manchester United last summer, and Potter expects the 27-year-old to be on the team bus when it departs for the Sussex coast on Friday afternoon.
However, Mexico national-team captain Edson Álvarez is unlikely to be on the same bus, while long-term absentees Michail Antonio (car accident) and Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) are also injured.
“Edson Álvarez is still out with a back problem,” Potter confirmed, speaking in his pre-match press conference. “He's just going to probably miss the game. [We’re] hopeful [for] next week.
“Long-term absentees will still be there, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be back and should be available for the squad.”
Republic of Ireland forward Evan Ferguson, who joined the Irons on loan from the Seagulls in the winter transfer window, is ineligible to face his parent club.
