Seraina Piubel stated West Ham United women’s team head into their Barclays Women’s Super League clash at Liverpool with togetherness, as they look to bounce back from their Adobe Women’s FA Cup exit in midweek.
The Hammers head to Merseyside looking to build on their WSL victory against Everton last weekend, knowing a victory will take them above this weekend’s opponents in the standings.
The attacker came off the bench in Wednesday night’s defeat to the Reds, but praised her side for how competitive they were throughout the contest. And the women’s team are not resting on their laurels, as they hope to bounce back on Sunday.
“It was a little bit disappointing, it was difficult with ten players, but it's football, but I think the start we made in the game was very good,” said Piubel.
“The corner goal was disappointing to concede, but I think in the first 20, 25 minutes, we were competitive in the game.
“It was tough, but now we have the chance to make sure that we can win the game on Sunday. We want to bounce back, we are a team, we go together and we go again.
“It's good to play again against Liverpool because we know their plan or how they play. I think we can now make sure that we can organise ourselves for Sunday."
Piubel joined West Ham in the summer from FC Zürich and has thrived under Rehanne Skinner this term. The 24-year-old has played 17 times across all competitions for the Hammers, chalking up three goals and two assists in the process, and is enjoying the side’s busy schedule in multiple competitions.
“I like playing three games in a week,” Piubel said. “We play football and we love to do this. For me, playing is better than training!
“We’re playing in lots of competitions as well, and we’ll have to go again against Chelsea on Wednesday, which will be another tough game.
“But on Sunday is very important in the league, and we know we could go higher in the table with a win.
“I'm very happy to be here, honestly. I love the team. I say it every time, but I really like it. We are a team and I think that's so important to go in the next game together."
