Rehanne Skinner has penned a new contract extension at West Ham United women’s team.
Having first taken over the reins at the Club in the summer of 2023, over the course of 52 games in charge, Skinner has progressed and developed the women’s team over the last 18 months, and the manager has committed her future as she looks to take her Claret and Blue side to the next level.
This season, the Hammers equalled last campaign’s points tally on matchweek 16, when they clinched a last-minute draw at home to Manchester City on Wednesday 5 March - emphasising how much they have grown as a side this term.
In her first season at the helm, Skinner, her staff and players created many memories for West Ham fans - the standout, though, being the women’s team’s first-ever Barclays Women’s Super League victory over Arsenal, in February 2024. Second-half goals from Viviane Asseyi and Hawa Cissoko cancelled out Alessia Russo’s 43rd-minute opener, sparking huge delight amongst the Chigwell Construction Stadium faithful.
Following a pre-season tour to Australia, this campaign has not been short of memories. From scoring seven against Crystal Palace, progressing through to the semi-finals of the Subway® Women's League Cup, defeating Tottenham Hotspur twice and taking points off Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United - there has certainly been some statement performances.
