Michael Salisbury has been confirmed as the referee for West Ham United’s Premier League fixture with Newcastle United.

Salisbury has been part of the Select Group of Referees since the 2022/23 season and has held the whistle in eight Premier League matches so far this campaign, including West Ham’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester City on 4 January.

The Lancashire-born official refereed West Ham’s first match of the 2023/24 campaign, away at AFC Bournemouth, and took charge of the Irons' 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in November 2023 and the 2-1 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur just a few weeks later.

He also oversaw Video Assistant Referee duties in our home defeat to Arsenal in November, and then at Vitality Stadium in the 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth in December.

Simon Bennett and Dan Robathan are the two assistant referees, as they were for the Hammers’ 1-0 win at Arsenal in February.

Bennett, who hails from Staffordshire, is an experienced assistant who worked at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He is also a regular for UEFA, assisting in the Champions League and other European fixtures, and has run the line in over 300 Premier League matches in his career.

Fellow assistant Robathan, meanwhile, is also a well-versed official who has worked in the Premier League since 2018, running the line in 185 matches. He has featured as an assistant referee at a West Ham United Premier League match on three previous occasions this season, working alongside Bennett in the 2-1 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in December and the aforementioned victory at Arsenal.

Lancashire-based Ben Toner will serve as fourth official, his third such Premier League appointment this season.

Primarily involved in EFL competition, having taken charge of ten Championship games and eleven League One fixtures this term, Toner refereed last season’s League Two Play-Off final between Crawley Town and Crewe Alexandra, and the 2023 EFL Trophy final between Bolton Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle.

American official Alex Chilowicz, who has refereed in EFL League One, League Two and in the EFL Cup in 2024/25, will oversee Video Assistant Referee duties, and he will be assisted by Simon Long.
