Match Officials confirmed for AFC Bournemouth visit

West Ham United v AFC Bournemouth
Premier League, London Stadium, Saturday 5 April 2025, 3pm BST

Referee: Tim Robinson
Assistant Referees: Eddie Smart and Steve Meredith
Fourth Official: Steve Martin
VAR: Jarred Gillett
Assistant VAR: Darren Cann

Tim Robinson will referee Saturday’s Premier League fixture with AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium.

One of the Premier League’s newest regular officials, Robinson took charge of his first top-flight match in December 2019, which resulted in a 1-0 win for Burnley over Newcastle United, and was later promoted to Select Group One ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The official from West Sussex refereed 21 top-tier matches last season, showing 89 yellow cards, but he did not send a single player off.

He will referee a West Ham game for the third time this season, having taken charge of our 1-1 Premier League draw at Fulham in September and 2-1 Emirates FA Cup third-round defeat at Aston Villa in January - Graham Potter’s first match as our Head Coach - while he served as the fourth official for our home games against Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers before Christmas.

In terms of other high-profile fixtures, Robinson took charge of the EFL League One Play-Off final in 2023, as Sheffield Wednesday beat Barnsley 1-0 after extra-time at Wembley Stadium.

The assistant referee duties will be fulfilled by Eddie Smart and Steve Meredith.

Smart has run the line in four previous Hammers games in the Premier League this season, all of them away from home, at Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Meredith has assisted at eleven previous West Ham matches, including both refereed by Robinson earlier this season.

The fourth official will be the experienced Steve Martin, who has been an EFL official since 2007, and since refereed over 300 matches at that level. He was the fourth official for the 2016 League One Play-Off final between Barnsley and Millwall.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be Australian Jarred Gillett. He has been a part of Professional Game Match Officials Limited’s (PGMOL) Select Group One since the start of the 2021/22 season, after establishing himself in his home country and joining Select Group Two in England in 2019.

Gillett will be assisted by Darren Cann, who is better known as a top-class assistant referee. Cann began refereeing in 1991 and has worked in the Premier League since 2005. He ran the line in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands, the 2010 UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, and the 2006 FA Cup final between West Ham United and Liverpool.
