Arsenal v West Ham United women's team
Barclays Women's Super League, Meadow Park, Sunday 1 March 2025, 5.30pm GMT
The international break is over, and that means West Ham United women’s team are back in action!
Rehanne Skinner’s side, who moved up to eighth in the Barclays Women’s Super League standings with their impressive 3-1 success at home to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, are on the road on Sunday, as they travel to Arsenal.
The Gunners’ momentum was also halted by the international break, as they put five past north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium on 16 February, and they will pose strong opposition for the Hammers at Meadow Park.
But West Ham proved they can overcome their neighbours in an unforgettable, historic encounter at Chigwell Construction Stadium just over a year ago, as second-half goals from Viviane Asseyi and Hawa Cissoko helped Skinner’s Hammers come from a goal down to defeat the Gunners in the WSL for the first time in the Club’s history.
And the women’s team will look to seize upon the opportunity to claim a first away win at Arsenal when the two teams lock horns in Sky Sports' late live televised kick-off on Sunday evening.

Opposition…
Third-placed Arsenal know they need to pick up three points on Sunday to keep any chance of claiming a third WSL title alive. They currently sit ten points behind leaders Chelsea, who are the only team to defeat the Gunners in the league this term, doing the double over their London rivals.
Prior to the reverse fixture between West Ham and Arsenal in October, Jonas Eidevall resigned from his position as Gunners boss after more than three years at the helm, leaving his then assistant coach Renée Slegers in the dugout for the clash at Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Since then, Arsenal have lost just twice in all competitions - qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals in the process - and the 36-year-old was rewarded for her side’s run of results, being appointed the club’s permanent head coach in January.
Former 55-times capped Netherlands international Slegers joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023 after two years in the dugout of Swedish side Rosengard, where she won back-to-back league titles in 2021 and 2022.
The ex-IF Limhamn Bunkeflo midfielder also plied her trade as a player in Sweden, representing Linköpings and Djurgårdens IF, as well as Dutch club Willem II.
Her first transfer window in charge of the Gunners saw Arsenal complete the permanent signing of Jenna Nighswonger from Gotham and the loan addition of Chloe Kelly from WSL rivals Manchester City.
England international Kelly made 19 first-team appearances for the red side of north London between 2015 and 2018 - scoring nine times - having been at the club’s youth academy at 12 years old.
While it looks unlikely it will happen this season, Slegers will believe she is the woman to end Arsenal’s current five-season wait for a WSL title.
Previous Meetings…
The reverse fixture between Arsenal and West Ham in October saw Skinner’s side stay resilient for the majority of the contest, but their resolve was broken 20 minutes from time when Mariona Caldentey scored from the spot before a late Rosa Kafaji goal.
It meant the Hammers were unable to chalk up back-to-back home wins against the Gunners after their historic meeting in the 2023/24 campaign, as second-half strikes from Asseyi and Cissoko secured West Ham’s first-ever WSL win over their London rivals.
Out of the 14 meetings between the two teams, Arsenal have won 12, while the sides played out a goalless draw in February 2023.
