Alphonse Areola’s stunning stop to deny Cole Palmer in West Ham United’s narrow 2-1 defeat away at Chelsea has been shortlisted for the Premier League Save of the Month award for February.
The Frenchman - who completed the full 90 minutes of each of the Hammers' four February fixtures - stood out with an impressive performance at Stamford Bridge, and he duly ensured his team went into half-time in front by acrobatically tipping over Palmer's left-footed free-kick just before the break.
The winner of the Premier League's October 2023 Save of the Month award, Areola - who has been ever present between the sticks since the 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa in late January - has made 16 top-flight appearances this season, keeping three clean sheets and making 48 saves.
The five other saves in the running were made by Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, David Raya of Arsenal, Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale and AFC Bournemouth’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Polling closes at 12noon GMT on Monday 10 March, with the winner being announced at 2pm GMT on Friday 14 March.
