Finlay Herrick kept a clean sheet as England U19 moved a step closer towards qualifying for this summer's UEFA U19 European Championship finals with a 0-0 draw against Türkiye on Saturday.
The Academy goalkeeper lined up alongside his Hammers teammate Lewis Orford as the Young Lions built on their 2-0 victory over Wales in their first Elite Round game, by making it four points from two starts in the four-team group.
Herrick and Orford played the 90 minutes, with the latter going close from a second-half free-kick, and with neither team able to make the breakthrough, England now head into their final group game against Portugal knowing victory would send them through to the tournament proper in Romania.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Airidas Golambeckis and Emeka Adiele were also starters as England U18s played out a 2-2 draw with France U18s in an international friendly in Portugal.
Adiele was involved in the Young Lions' opener, pulling the ball back for Leo Shahar to grab an early lead.
It was soon 2-0, as Josh Sonni-Lambie scored a second with 16 minutes on the clock, but two France goals in the second period meant the spoils were shared.
England U18s will now play a third friendly of the international camp against Portugal on Tuesday.
Josh Landers was on the scoresheet for Scotland U19s in their friendly against Poland, played in Spain, but was unable to prevent his side from falling to a 4-1 defeat.
The young Hammer, who joined the Club from Hibernian in January, stepped off the bench to notch on his first appearance for his country at U19 level.
Lanre Awesu and Chinaza Nwosu were unused substitutes as England U17s defeated Slovenia 3-2 in their UEFA U17 European Championship Round Two qualifier.
With six points from their opening two games, the Young Lions will seal their place at this summer's finals if they avoid defeat in their third outing against Northern Ireland.
Finally Patrick Kelly captained Northern Ireland U21s as they were edged out 1-0 by Ukraine U20s in a friendly match played in Türkiye.
