Jose Fonte admitted that Saturday’s 2-2 draw with West Brom at London Stadium was tough to take after West Ham had come from behind to deservedly lead with just seconds remaining.
Jonny Evans’ late, late equaliser was a huge blow for Slaven Bilic’s men after goals from Sofiane Feghouli and Manuel Lanzini had wiped out Nacer Chadli’s early strike.
With the Hammers also on the receiving end of some controversial decisions from referee Michael Oliver and his assistants, recent arrival Fonte said the feeling at the final whistle was one of severe frustration.
"We are disappointed in the dressing-room obviously,” he said. “It was tough to take, we didn’t deserve it at all.
"Even when we conceded so early in the first half, I thought we showed personality and belief in how we wanted to play. We created many chances, got back in the game and were 2-1 up in the last minute.
"We are also disappointed with some decisions that went against us, but if we keep playing like this, then we will win more often than not. We need to keep believing in what we are doing."
With a two-week break before the next Premier League encounter, at Watford on February 25, Fonte and his team-mates will head to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp and the Portuguese international sees it as the perfect opportunity to recharge the batteries ahead of the final run-in.
"Exactly that," he said. "It’s time to get some Vitamin D, we are going away as a squad and hopefully we will come back stronger."
